January and December economic analysis
According to China Sewing Machinery Association's statistics on 97 main machine manufacturers in the industry, as of the end of December 2008, the total industrial output value totaled 11,851.1911 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 41.47%; the accumulated industrial sales output value reached 1 099 198.80 million yuan , Down by 39.75% over the same period of last year. The accumulated industrial added value reached RMB3,199,746,000, a year-on-year decrease of 54.24%.
Total profits and taxes totaled 704.295 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 63.10%, of which 3726.96 million yuan was realized in total profits, down 68.80% from the same period of last year.
A total of 6 432 366 sets of household and industrial sewing machines were produced, a decrease of 38.16% over the same period of last year. Among them, there were 2,035 408 household sewing machines, down 35.74% from the same period of last year (640,600 ordinary household sewing machines, an increase of 13.12% over the same period of last year; 1,404,808 multi-purpose domestic sewing machines, representing a year-on-year decrease of 45.75%); 4,222,997 industrial sewing machines, Down 38.97%.
A total of 6 617 612 sewing machines for household and industrial use were sold, a decrease of 32.97% over the same period of last year. Of which, 2 496 006 domestic sewing machines were sold, down 13.01%; 3 975 513 industrial sewing machines were sold, down 38.78% over the same period of last year; and 145 824 garments were sold, a decrease of 41.10% over the same period of previous year. The sales income of products was 1,109,941,700 yuan, a decrease of 37.40% from the same period of last year. The end-of-month stocks of household and industrial sewing machines were 631 317 sets, an increase of 6.16% over the same period of last year.
2, the customs import and export of sewing machines
According to the statistics of the General Administration of Customs, as of the end of December 2008, the total amount of imported sewing machines and spare parts amounted to USD26,347,900, down 41.54% over the same period of last year; the total number of imported sewing machines was 125,100 sets, down 42.45% on a year-on-year basis and the import amount was RMB155,030,800, down YoY 44.27%. Among them, a total of 70,300 sets of household sewing machines were imported, down 34.99% over the same period of last year with an import value of 8,122,500 U.S. dollars, up 0.93% over the same period of last year; a total of 54,000 sets of industrial sewing machines were imported, down 49.18% from the same period of last year with an import amount of 126,025,200 U.S. dollars, down 39.98 %; A total of 734 sets of imported embroidery machines, down 74.34%, the amount of 29,093,100 US dollars of imports, down 57.40%; total imports of parts and components 11,971,700 US dollars, down 37.46%.
As of the end of December 2008, the total amount of exported sewing machines and spare parts was USD 146,025,200, down 1.38% from the same period of last year. The total number of exported sewing machines was 10,991,400 sets, down 8.97% over the same period of last year. The foreign exchange earned from exporting was USD 1,280,097,900, down 1.90% from the same period of last year. Among them, a total of 8,269,800 sets of household sewing machines were exported, down 10.21% over the same period of last year; export volume reached 353,814,000 U.S. dollars, an increase of 3.68% over the same period of previous year; and a total of 2,666,500 sets of industrial sewing machines were exported, representing a year-on-year decrease of 4.89% and export earnings of 58,225,300 U.S. dollars, 10.73%; a total of 55,200 export embroidery machines, an decrease of 9.80%, export volume of 34,483,360 US dollars, an increase of 10.43%; parts and components accumulated exports of 17,915.22 million US dollars, an increase of 2.56%.
